2/25/12

2/25 - Mission Fitness

I'm starting to get back in the swing of things.  Improved my time by a minute over a couple days ago, doing an 11 minute mile.  I probably could have continued, but I don't want to hurt myself.

Well.. actually... it's because I'm lazy.  There was someone else down there, so I couldn't have my headphones on as loud as usual, thus making the experience not nearly as enjoyable.

A note to self - Go the Distance from Hercules, though an epicly awesome song, isn't all that great for running to (despite my preconceived notion that it is).

Alter Bridge - Burn it Down
Guns N Roses - Civil War

2/23/12

2/23 - Mission Fitness

I'm going to pretend that no one pays attention to the dates...

Anyways, this was my first run in quite a while.  I got a cold that kept me down, got busy, and just generally procrastinated like a boss.  I went ahead and did an easy 12 minute mile, speeding up the last minute to get it to about 11:40.

I do enjoy running, particularly the undivided attention to music that I get.  I turn my headphones up way too loud, blow my ears out, and it's GREAT. Today, I listened to Higher and Higher (you know, the Ghostbusters song).  I was half tempted to replay it - that song made me smile.  I then chuckled, realizing that I was smiling whilst running.

Ghostbusters OST - Higher and Higher
Flatt & Scruggs - Foggy Mountain Breakdown
Incubus - Warning
Stone Temple Pilots - Big Empty

2/7/12

2/7/12 - Mission Fitness

Shhhh... you didn't notice the difference in dates between this blog and the last.  Nope, sure didn't.

So, the treadmill was taken today on my visit to the Fitness Center.  I meandered over to the stationary bike instead.  I used to bike all the time, but then I moved to a place without optimal biking roads.  Of course, I could just bike to the optimal biking roads if desired, but that would just make too much sense.

Biking on a stationary bike is interesting.  It's like, "Hey, I'm laying down, this is like relaxing cake." Then 10 minutes later, "Hey, I'm laying down, this is like BERNING FIRE DEATH."  Program 6 is definitely not my friend.  I still have some crazy leg burning.

But, the burning just means it's working.

~12 minutes biking, 3.5 miles.  Not too bad, considering the artificial hills.

1/30

1/30/12 - Mission Parking Lot
Treadmill =/= Road
I can math.

I made an attempt today to run in the parking lot.  I got home from work, it was still light, and it was 60 degrees (in January).  I'm still feeling the burn about 20 minutes later.  It's funny how running on a treadmill so poorly relates to running irl (in real life; aka - non-treadmill).  I started off way too fast, and it was colder than I thought, even at 60.  I wasn't 200 meters in before I started slowing down and gradually dying.

I ran a whole lap around the parking lot, which I think is somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 mile.  I did not time - something that was accidental, but I am now quite happy about.

1/26/12

1/26/12 - Mission Fitness
I was correct in my previous entry.  I tried to run a 10 minute mile, and I hate myself. "I CAN RUN ALL THE WAYZ" was correct, and I did finish in 10 minutes, but I about keeled over afterwards.
Due to wedding activities, I get a sneaky suspicion that running will be sparse the next few days.

Also a sad note.  One of my songs the other day was "Cherish the Rain" by Even Heroes.  Even Heroes is a band whose bass player is a member of the Alter Bridge forums.  I had followed them for so long, listening to all of their music, and then sort-of forgot about them for a couple years.
I looked them up today, just to see if there was anything new.  Come to find out they disbanded in 2010.  Sad day.

1/25 Evening

1/25/12 - Mission Fitness
I have the most confusing body in all mankind.  The other day I was struggling to hit a mile.  Today I ran for 22:30 straight.  1.85 miles (12 minute mile pace).
I think something that helps is setting "Stopping Goals."  For instance, at around 15 minutes, I said to the person living in my head "I'll stop after this song."  Then it was, "I'll stop at 20 minutes."  Then finally it was, "I'll stop at the end of this song." I finally stopped, but I probably could have justified finishing that second mile.
Ah well, still good.

Knowing my body, the next time I run I'll be all, "IMA RUN ALL THE WAYZ."  I'll get to about the 5 minute mark and pass out on the treadmill.

Styx - Fooling Yourself
Journey - Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'

First Two Runs

Sunday, 1/22/12 - Mom & Dad's House
Was initially going to go for a 10 minute mile, but increased the time after about 2 minutes to a 12 minute mile.   Dem leg and side cramps.  11:35 ish mile.

I'm out of shape.

Tuesday, 1/24/12 - Mission Viejo Fitness
12 Minute mile pace.  I ran for about a minute, then had to pee, so I started over.  After running, I did some arms and legs, but Miss Kimbot was still biking.  Sucked it up and ran another 4:30 at about a 13 minute mile pace.

As a note to self, my goal is to run a 7 minute mile, as well as run a full 5K without stopping.  Obviously, not at the same time.  I'm ambitious, not crazy.

The Spirit Carries On - Dream Theater
Believe - The Mayfield Four
Blurry - Puddle of Mudd
